March 19th, Saturday, the traditional day of prayers and celebration for Tagaste Monastery, was a day for our SAR members to gather at the Monastery for a day of retreat. It was well-attended with representatives of both our SAR members and a very substantial representation of our SAR brothers and sisters from ST. John's Parish in the Bronx. There were both English and Spanish language groups from the Bornx fraternity.
It was also an occasion for all present to witnes the formal installation of Fr. Francisco Sandoval, OAR, as the new Prior of Tagaste Monastery. Our Provincial, Fr. Joseph Gallardo, OAR, presided at the afternoon liturgy and Fr. John Oldfield, OAR, preached the homily. Fr. Jack outlined the duties of an Augustinian Recollect superior as required by the Rules of St. Augustine. After Mass, all were invited to join in the blessings of St. Joseph Table.
