The Pius X Guild under the direction of Peggy Evans once again sponsored the annual Tagaste Flea Market on Saturday, September 11 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The day was picture perfect, bright, sunny, and breezy in sharp contrast with last year, when rain almost cancelled the event. Some 60 dealers displayed a variety of items including furniture, kitchen ware, clothing, books, music, and toys. One dealer offered hand-made memorial wreaths while another represented counseling services for youth, and still another, chiropractic services.
The day was enlivened by the music of "Captain and Camille" who have provided entertainment for many of the Guild's fund-raising events over the past few years. The food booth offered grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, home-made chili and-a new feature this year-Mexican tacos. The Tagaste students helped to cook and serve the food under the direction of Mr. Joe Nappo. A raffle was also held with cash prizes of $500, $300, and $200. The raffle had been conducted in a number of local parishes as well as on the grounds. Both dealers and Guild members were very happy with the day, which, in spite of all the hard work, proved to be extremely successful for all.
