Secular Augustinian Recollects from West Orange, the Bronx, and Union City joined the Tagaste chapter on March 20, 2010 for the annual SAR Eastern regional day of recollection. Some 60 SARs were present for the Lenten day of prayer, reflection, and fraternity. The theme for the day followed the Church's "Year of the Priest". Speakers included Fr. Francisco (Paco) Legarra, who reflected upon the meaning of priesthood and his own experiences as a priest, and Fr. Fredric Abiera who spoke about priesthood for St. Augustine, focusing on Augustine's approach to preaching.
Fr. John Gruben acted as host for the day and led the Stations of the Cross. Fr. Joseph Gallardo, Prior Provincial, was main celebrant for the liturgy and gave the homily. Following the Mass all retired to the Guild Hall for dinner and honored St. Joseph with the traditional St. Joseph Table. As usual, the day was a great opportunity to renew friendships and to reflect and pray together on our rich Augustinian heritage.
