It was a beautiful fall day on Saturday, September 20 when the Tagaste Guild held its annual Flea Market, which was open to shoppers from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM. There were 62 dealers who rented space on the monastery grounds, selling everything from furniture to household items to books and recordings.
The Guild had its usual "White Elephant" booth and sold food and refreshments including hamburgers, hot dogs, chili, and beverages. The Sisters of St. Zita's Villa in Monsey were also on hand with old-fashioned root beer floats, which proved to be very popular. The day was enlivened by a couple with a karaoke set who sang a variety popular music, moving some of the shoppers and even the staff to sing along or dance. The raffle offered three money prizes: 1st prize was $500, 2nd was $300, and 3rd was $200. Total income for the day was $9000.
Congratulations to the Guild and all of those who supported this project for another successful fund-raiser!
