In spite of a windy, rainy night the Irish spirit was alive and well at Tagaste on March 8 for the annual St. Patrick's Dinner-Dance sponsored by the Pius X Guild. The hall had a distinctly green color (the lights) and décor as did the participants, almost all of whom managed to incorporate that Irish hue into their evening wear.
The event was, once again, chaired by Peggy Evans. A good number of friends and supporters of Tagaste were present for the traditional corn beef and cabbage dinner which was accompanied by red-skinned potatoes, carrots, and plenty of Irish soda bread, direct from the hard-working oven of Peggy. Naturally there was beer for the occasion, and Joe Nappo manned the bar, making sure everyone had something (but not too much) to drink.
At the end of meal coffee and cake were served, the cake doing double duty--or should we say triple duty--since it was the birthday celebration of Br. Joe Joly, Fr. Charles Huse (Prior Provincial) and Toni Martucci. There was a raffle as well as numerous door prizes.
After dinner almost everyone felt like dancing and the room echoed with enough traditional and contemporary music to make everyone happy. Erin Go Bragh (Ireland Forever)!
