Holy Week opened at Tagaste on March 16 with the celebration of the Palm Sunday liturgy at the 9:00 AM (English) Mass with Fr. John Gruben as celebrant, and 10:30 AM (Spanish) Mass with Fr. Ramón Gaitan as celebrant. Dn Juan José Guzman assisted at both Masses, which included the blessing of palms and reading of the Passion Narrative.
The Spanish Mass included an outdoor blessing and a large procession around the monastery. At the end of the liturgy a dramatic presentation of the Way of the Cross was enacted by the Hispanic Youth Group who dressed in costumes reminiscent of those worn in the time of Jesus.
