All of the Tagaste friars were together on Holy Thursday, March 20, to celebrate the evening Liturgy of the Lord's Supper. Fr. Ramón Gaitan, prior, was the main celebrant at the bilingual Mass and the other priests of the community concelebrated. Fr. Gaitan in his homily spoke about the meaning of Eucharist and its role in uniting the community through works of love in the service of others. This love was beautifully symbolized in the traditional ceremony of the washing of the feet.
Twelve children from the community, dressed as "apostles", were present around the altar to have their feet washed. At the conclusion of the Mass, the Blessed Sacrament was carried in procession into the large community dining room where the altar of repose had been set up and decorated with candles and flowers. The "Tantum Ergo" was then sung, and all spent time in silent adoration.
The Tagaste community celebrated a holy hour before the Blessed Sacrament from 10 to 11 PM, reflecting upon the self-giving of Christ at the Last Supper and in the Passion.
