The Pius X Guild of Tagaste sponsored its annual Mass and communion breakfast on Sunday, December 9. The purpose of the celebration is to unite the guild members in a pre-Christmas celebration and to recruit new members. The concelebrated Mass was held at 9:30 AM and was bilingual since it included both the English and Spanish-speaking communities served by the monastery. Fr. Ramon Gaitan, prior, was the main celebrant and delivered the homily and Fra. Juan Jose Guzman was deacon for the occasion. Music was provided by the Tagaste and Hispanic choirs. About 90 people were in attendance.
Following the Mass all were invited to the breakfast which consisted of eggs, pancakes, sausage, bacon, rolls, crumb cake, juice, and coffee. Peggy Evans, guild president, conducted the program, which consisted in the customary Christmas gifts given to the members of the community by the guild, a raffle for a porcelain nativity set, and door prizes. The Tagaste choir, led by Fr. John Gruben and accompanied by the Hispanic musicians led the guests in a number of lively Christmas carols that got everyone singing and in the mood of the season.
