TAGASTE HOLDS ITS ANNUAL FLEA MARKET
The Tagaste Guild sponsored its annual Flea Market for the benefit of the Monastery on the grounds in front of the house on September 9. After so much rainy weather, the day was perfect: warm, with a few clouds, and a refreshing breeze. Directed by Peggy Evans, Guild president, and with the help of a number of the Guild members, some 45 dealers were on hand from 9 AM to 4 PM, selling a variety of items. Most of the dealers were not professional salespeople and many were first timers at Tagaste.

A variety of tents were set up on the grounds, both dealers and Tagaste staff members anticipating a long day in the sun. The house had its own booth (set up, as usual, in the baseball backstop) with many items from the Monastery itself or donated by friends. The Guild sold hamburgers, hot dogs, and chili (hot and mild!) as well as soft drinks. The local first aid squad and police were on hand to help direct traffic and handle any emergencies.

A raffle was held (tickets having been mailed to Guild members as well as sold at the parishes of Sacred Heart, St. Joseph, and St. Boniface). The prizes for the raffle were: 1st Prize-$300; 2nd Prize-$200; and 3rd prize-a painting done by Fr. Frank Wilder. It was a great day for Tagaste: Everyone seemed to enjoy the fine weather, the food, the merchandise offered for sale, and the spirit of joining together to help the community.
