On the feast of St. Augustine, August 28, the community gathered for Vespers and Mass at 5:15 pm, joined by SAR members from Tagaste and St. Cloud (West Orange, NJ), local Recollects, and members of our Guild as well as the new pastor of Sacred Heart, Msgr. Joseph Giandurco. Fr. Provincial, Charles Huse, was main celebrant and homilist for the occasion, which combined the commemoration of the Feast of Our Father St. Augustine and the formal installation of our new prior, Fr. Ramón Gaitan.
After the homily Fr. Gaitan received the symbols of his office—the house seal and the Constitutions. He then received a pledge of support from community members and, in turn, recited the profession of faith, promising to be faithful to the laws of the Church and the Order. All the Recollects who were present renewed their religious vows.
After the Mass everyone enjoyed an Italian dinner provided by the Guild in the hall. Some 70 people were present for the occasion which was an opportunity to renew old friendships as well as to begin new ones.
