In this article we would like to give you, our readers, a detailed overview of the life of our students at Tagaste Monastery, the post novitiate seminary of the Province of Saint Augustine. Each day, our students open their minds and hearts to God's work in their daily life.
In the last edition of Restless Hearts, we let you know a bit about the solemn profession and diaconate ordination of Fra. Matthew Alejo. Our deacon just came back from his missionary experience in the Sierra Tarahumara en Chihuahua, Mexico and is currently continuing his preparation for ordination as a priest.
We find Fra. Juan José Guzmán immersed in his first year of theological studies at Seton Hall University. Through studies of Christology, Johannine literature, fundamental theology, the Sacraments of Initiation and Christian ethics, Juan José gives us an experience of the faith as it is taught in each of his classes. In other words, thanks to the systematic study of such materials, he has begun to fine tune his knowledge as well as deepen his faith to the point of being able to give reasons for the same. He has also mentioned that his study of Christology has made him become more Christ-centered. Recently, Juan José received the ministry of lector along with his classmates. They were installed by Archbishop John J. Myers on March 13, 2005.
Next, we present to you Fra. Sergio Bañuelos. He is continuing his English studies at SUNY Rockland Community College and also has had some chances to study some United States history, computers and critical thinking. He tells us that his studies are very satisfying and that he is acquiring new knowledge while earning sufficient credits to transfer to Seton Hall University.
Finally, we introduce the newest student at Tagaste Monastery. Magno García is currently studying English as a Second Language at SUNY Rockland Community College. He tells us that his experience of his classmates is interesting, especially since all of them are Europeans or Asians. Such an experience allows him to learn something about different cultures.
We thank these four industrious young men for their words and we wish them the best academically. May they continuing to reap success. Above all, may they cultivate their vocation as a seed planted in good soil and give abundant fruit for the glory of God.
