Our Eucharistic Adoration Chapel at St. Joan of Arc in Sloatsburg, NY has been open one year!!! It has been a joint project of St. Joan of Arc and Sacred Heart Parishes along with Tagaste Monastery. The two parishes marked the occasion on Tuesday, February 8, 2005 with the celebration of Mass at St. Joan of Arc followed by a Eucharistic procession and Benediction. Fr. Andrew Carrozza, Fr. Frank Dias and two priests from Greenwood Lakes participated. We topped the evening off with a festive party and fellowship. Later that week on the night of February 12th an all night prayer vigil was held by members of the Rockland Hispanic Community. The vigil ended with an early Mass Sunday February 13th presided by Fr. Frank Wilder.
God has given growth to this project planted as a small seed, with some doubt, a year ago. Many people thought no one would make a commitment to adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament one hour every week. But God has proven differently and the Chapel is open 18 hours a day 7 days a week!!! In this, the Year of the Eucharist, more than 300 people both Spanish and English speaking spend time with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament each week at the chapel. And Jesus is never alone. It has become a secret oasis of quiet prayer for the local area.
A special thank you to all the people who sacrifice one hour a week which keeps the adoration chapel open. We are all blessed because of your dedication. To learn more or to sign up call Marie at 845-357-6729 for information in English or Sarah at 845- 369-6033 for information in Spanish.
