THE ORDINATION OF FRANCISCO SANDOVAL, OAR TO THE PRIESTHOOD
Deacon Francisco Sandoval was ordained to the priesthood on May 28, 2004 at Our Lady of the Pillar Church, Santa Ana, California by Bishop David Arias, OAR. Fr. Francisco said his first Mass on May 29,th at Mary, Star of the Sea Church, Oxnard, California. While in California he helped out at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Santa Ana, California.
Then, Fr. Francisco went to his home town Tepalcatepec, Michoacan, Mexico where he offered a Mass of Thanksgiving for family and friends. The festive Mass was held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church on July 11th. He then returned to Tagaste on July 26, 2004.
Sunday August 1st he celebrated both the 9am English and 10:30 AM Spanish Masses at Tagaste. Afterwards well wishers who had come to know him during his several years at Tagaste while a seminarian congratulated him at a luncheon in the Guild Hall. Members of the Sacred Heart Hispanic Community even offered songs for the occasion.
Although he went up to St. John's Parish in the Bronx that very afternoon he had not received his permanent assignment to Kingsbridge. Fr. Francisco will be officially transferred to St. John's Parish in the Bronx, New York effective October 1st. During August, Fr. Francisco also helped out by saying Masses at Tagaste and one Sunday at St. Anthony Church in Nanuet and went with the Cursillistas to the Ultreya de Campo in Stony Point.
