The solemn professed religious of the Province of St. Augustine held a Provincial Assembly from January 10 - 14 at St. Augustine's Priory in Oxnard, California. Six friars from Tagaste attended. An assembly is held about every five years. All who participated were pleased with the chance to see each other again.
The main topics discussed included the Order's charism and care of our elders. There were three conferences every day, followed by small group discussions. All of our friars had the beautiful experience of gathering together to pray the Liturgy of the Hours and celebrate Mass. There was even a special ceremony to pray for the deceased of our Province.
The Assemby was a real chance for our friars to live the Augustinian Recollect spirit and examine how well they live our Order's charism. The Provincial Assembly was a great success and all the religious left Oxnard with an optimistic vision of the future. Together we look forward to a promising future for the Province in spite of the difficult times.
